McFarland Award

In 2006, the Women Attorneys’ Association of Topeka, Inc.  founded the McFarland Award.  The award is named after Justice Kay McFarland to honor her numerous accomplishments in the legal field. 

Award criteria : (1) The individual has achieved professional excellence in her field; and (2) influenced other women to pursue legal careers; or (3) opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings that historically were closed to them; or (4) advanced opportunities for women within a practice area or segment of the profession.

2010 Nominations:
 
WAAT is currently accepting nominations for the 2010 McFarland Award.  To nominate an attorney, fill out a nomination form:
 
 
Return it to the address listed on the form no later than December 18, 2009.
 

2009 Award Recipient:

Nominations were tallied and discussed at the January WAAT board meeting, and from the deserving candidates, the Honorable Evelyn Z. Wilson was selected to receive the Chief Justice McFarland Award!
