McFarland Award

In 2006, the Women Attorneys’ Association of Topeka, Inc.  founded the McFarland Award.  The award is named after Justice Kay McFarland to honor her numerous accomplishments in the legal field. 

Award criteria : (1) The individual has achieved professional excellence in her field; and (2) influenced other women to pursue legal careers; or (3) opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings that historically were closed to them; or (4) advanced opportunities for women within a practice area or segment of the profession.

Procedure: Members who want to nominate a person can submit the nomination form to the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka, P.O. Box 2483, Topeka, Kansas  66601 with a cover letter that addresses the criteria.

 

Nominations shall be submitted on or before January 15, 2008. All nominations will be submitted to the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka Board of Directors for voting and selection. The award will be given at the February 2008 meeting of Women Attorneys Association of Topeka Meeting.
